Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor, and commentator. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a master's degree from the department of English literature. Mitchell joined KYW Radio and TV as the Philadelphia reporter in 1967. In 1976 she was a part of the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV in Washington DC (then WTOP). She joined NBC News Washington two years after that as general reporter. 1981 was the year she began reporting on at the White House, and in 1988 she was appointed the Chief Correspondent to Congress. In 1992, she was made Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 was appointed chief foreign affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell has appeared in the TV news show Meet the Press as a panelist and host. Mitchell joined the panel during 1988's presidential debates, which pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell was married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 from the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg Award in 2004 for her work in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell started covering in the White House in 1981-1988, in both the Reagan presidency. She has covered several notable stories over the years, including the tax reforms, budget reforms, and the Iran Contra affair. Mitchell traveled extensively together with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
