Aurora

Aurora Aksnes was born on 15 June 1996 in Stavanger, Norway. She is professionally known as Aurora and sometimes stylized with the letters in uppercase in the form of AURORA. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves, released in May 2015 by Decca Records to great approval from music journalists and media. She has previously recorded two high-profile covers Half the World Away by the band Oasis to promote a Christmas ad by John Lewis and Nature Boy by Nat King Cole. Katy Perry posted a video where she was announcing her endorsement of Runaway. The endorsement earned her some attention. It was her birthday celebration. Aurora Aksnes' first musical memories involve finding a tiny piano in her basement and being fascinated at the sound it made. Jan Oystein Aksnes was her father. He urged her not to pursue music solely for fun or to aid in growing, but that she should pursue it. In the end, she started writing the music she composed herself. She is credited with Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen as well as Bjork as being her influences. Responding to her mother's suggestions that she shouldn't be trying to be famous through their songwriting skills, she instead realize the importance of themselves and their impact on society. She began playing the piano at age six and creating music when she was nine. It wasn't until her 14th birthday that she told her parents. Aurora isn't something she imagined as a child. Aurora says she loves creating songs. She says that music is her favorite way of feeling something.
